Mother, Thou Art Special

A tribute to a dear mother.

photo: Mommyling

I’m a blind witness
To all you have gone through
Each dawn greeted with gladness
Each dusk brought a handful of sacrifices.

You will always be
The tireless and dependable nanny
Often I’ve seen you got angry
But flashed a smile whenever you hear, “Sorry, Mommy”.

I sometimes cried
Seeing your sad flight
Your old body aching and tired
Only a lil’ prayer I can say each night.

But Mom, please slow down
You have done us a lot
Sharing a hand to everyone
Forgetting, you too have a life to think about.

So, on this very special day
I say “ I Love You”
You have guided us in our way
And I’m so very grateful to have you.

  1. If you say any about Mom, relate na agad ako, i felt and knew how hard they've gone through to care for their children :)

  2. This poem is apt to the upcoming Mother's Day! We just don't say "I love you" on this day but every day.

  7. its hard for me to say ilove you sa nanay ko .. pero tuwing umuuwi ako , nagkikiss na ako sa cheek nia ... dun ko lng kaya ipakita love ko sa kanya .. hindi rin ako makahindi sa request nia .. pag sinabi niang kelangan nia ng pera ,,, kahit wala ako ,, nagawa ako ng paraan para makapagpadala sa kanya .. love na love ko kasi cia because of the sacrifices na ginawa nia para sa akin at sa mga kapatid ..

  8. Missing my Mom too, she left us and join with God in February 14, 1994. My father joined with her too exactly May 8 1995.

  18. this poem reminds me so much of the sacrifices of my mom, sacrifices that only a heart that loves unconditionally could do, that is why we see her smile with a simple "sorry, mommy". this is a very lovely poem, Donald.

  25. We only celebrate Mother's Day once a year, thanking our mothers for all the love and support they give us. This is really a meaningful Mother's Day gift.
