Father and Son

A father giving encouragements to his son.

Me and my son:

My dear son don't be too cautious
To let go of your feelings
If you're happy, feel the heat
When you're sad, live with it.

Don't be shy but be sly
To learn and try new things
And hone up your skill
Soon it's a rewarding experience.

Try not to carry all the burdens
Of hardship on your frail shoulders
Don't take seriously what tomorrow offers
Just face each day with a smile.

Forget the pain of yesterday
It's just water under the bridge
What is important is how you treat today
And never again make the same mistakes.

My son, never think you're all alone
I'm always be your companion
To share with you my compassion
And the bonding we experience at home.

Always remember you have the power to achieve
All the visions and dreams you set
But never forget to call on the Lord
He is always there to give you support.

My son, just go on loving
Just continue on believing
Just keep on following
All the things you're dreaming.

  7. Your son is so lucky for he has a father who is someone like you, who knows how to encourage and guide his son to be a successful person. True enough that for every successful person there's always a prodding parent behind.

  9. So much feel from every chosen word in this poem. It's meaningful especially written by a father himself. I was so inspired because I feel like my own father is speaking to me.

  13. Happy Father's day po! :) Your son is very lucky to have you as a father. Not all fathers are supportive of their sons. They usually command them to be something they want them to be while you... you encourage him to be the person he is. :) Great poem! :)
