Filipina is a nursing student from the Philippines who had to take a part-time job just to pursue her studies.

Rushing out of the house
You’ll always say “Hi, Tito
Got to catch the bus
Got lot of things to do.”
Catching a glimpse of you
I can’t help it but to sigh
Knowing the life you’re into
Oh! Filipina you’re caught in a bind.
With a widowed mother
Trying to meet both ends
Siblings have burdens to share
But education, all must attend.
A nursing student in the morning
Filipina has to attend to other things
A part-time job in the evening
Just to earn some extra earning.
For five long years
T’was her daily routine
I wonder if the end is near
That the fruit of her hardship be finally seen.
Then one morning, she came to me rushing
Holding a newspaper, she’s smiling
“Hi, Tito”, I got good news to share
“What my child”, I answered.
She came closer and showed me the page
It reads” List of New Nurses”
Filipina Medina, true indeed
My child your hardship has not come to waste.
