Recollections

A poem expressing an old man disgust over a reflection on an old mirror.

Hiding beyond a silhouette
There’s an old man, who steal a look
For one reason, I knew we‘ve met
I marveled… is he a crook?

Armies of silvery hair glistening his bald head
Gosh! He looks an awful mess
Devoid of grandeur, but instead
A tattered man, I guess.

Sizing him up, I’m damn sure I look smarter
Than this worn out man, I am saying
Nonetheless, if it’s me glancing out there
You’re a rubbish, old mirror, … for you are lying.

  11. I think senior people should be proud of their age because they are still alive and kicking. A lot of those I know are ashamed to even say how old they are.

  17. The mirror does not lie. Better accept what you look like or do something about because the mirror sure won't.

  18. Haha denial? He can't accept that he's old? LOL no one is old in the area of knowledge, only ages gets higher in number, but everyone can still be young in some aspects. :D

  22. Aging is part of life no one can avoid it but if we can plan our life and retirement well we can age gracefully and live in comfortable life as we grow old.

  24. Short but very straight-forward. You should publish a book of poems already, Papaleng! :)

  25. Is this a reflection of your own self? Since you are getting wiser and wiser because your age goes along with it, that is how you treat yourself while talking to your as depicted in the figure you used, the mirror. By the way, happy birthday.

  26. This is sort of a bittersweet story. It's like when you grow old you lose a lot of things but you also gain just as much :D

  27. In denial of the reality that he is already old. But the quote on that photo is right, It is now actually a privilege that not everyone can experience.

  28. Nice one. Where did you get that bottle cap? Really nice marketing strategy.

  29. The first part was admittedly very confusing. But when it got to that last stanza, then we clearly know what you are talking about. Very very nice twist at the end.

  30. It sounds funny but it has the essence of bitterness along its course. Aging is a processes....not constructed by anybody but you.
