A Poor Man's Lighthouse

A simple definition of how to love your neighbor.

I'm a man who rather live alone
Simply content with life but not a recluse
But there are those who find refuge
In a stranger's nest and build a new home.

There are courageous men who love adventures
With bold decisions, they earn some fortunes
But let me dwell near a slum environment
And be a brother to the disheartened

Let me dwell in a house near a slum environment
Where I could mingle with their daily movements
To foster fellowship among the good and the bad
A similar identity once I had.

I would not stay in a haven and complain
But be with the miserable and give encouragement
Let me dwell in a house near a slum environment
And be a brother to the disheartened.

My abode is a lighthouse to the outcast
It gives radiance to their highway of life
The man with dreams to escape the past
But are now struggling with today's strife.

I wonder where they get those smiles of enchantment
Perhaps it's their way of thanking the Lord's blessings
Let me dwell in a house near a slum environment
And be a brother to the disheartened.

Therefore, I would not build a dividing wall
So I can see and run towards them if they fall
Let me dwell in a house near a slum environment
And be a brother to the disheartened.
